Dear Parents,

Happy Spring! We are so happy to see the bonding between the students grow stronger and it is truly wonderful to watch our kindergarten friends having developed the leadership skills, confidence, and patience to guide/help their younger friends with lessons.

Our Gimmel students are excited everyday to see the grass growing successfully in their grassland biome. They are thrilled to place the grassland animal figurines in the savanna, and visualize the interactions between different species as learned from various books.

We continue to learn about birds and their habitats. For a hands-on experience of building a model nest, we are planning to go for a nature walk and collect twigs, feathers, dried grass, and leaves; the students will then get creative in making their own nests using real images of differently shaped nests as inspiration. This activity helps them understand the adaptations of our beautiful feathered friends.

The children will be learning about amphibians in the animal kingdom, specifically - frogs. There are more than 5,000 kinds of frogs around the world, ranging from the huge Goliath frogs in Africa to the tiny Spring Peepers in our own state of Ohio. The students will also learn about the habitat and parts of a frog, as well as its life-cycle and metamorphosis. In our Practical area, we will create a frog sensory pond, which is sure to provide  lots of learning and fun!
